AW Book News: Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close

Not too long ago I had the opportunity of reviewing Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close and thought it was a complete riot! All of the characters were so real and I couldn’t imagine anything better than bringing them to life in a weekly sitcom. Fortunately, according to Deadline.com a new TV series based on the novel may be on the horizon…

Crittenden and Allan’s Don’t Panic at ABC/ABC Studios is based on the book Girls In White Dresses by Jennifer Close. It revolves around a group of female friends navigate the ups and downs of post-college life in New York City, all while suffering through an endless cycle of weddings and bridal showers.

Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond alumna Crittenden and former Scrubs writer-producer Allan are the writers-executive producers. This is the second sale for the duo through their overall deal at ABC Studios. They are also writing/executive producing a comedy for ABC/ABC Studios about the members of a 1990s all-girl band who reunite after 20 years of bad blood.

It’s bound to be a huge success with writers like Crittenden and Allan behind this fantastic project. I’ve no doubt that I’ll be tuning in once it makes it’s way to the screen, but what about you? Have you read the book or do you think you’ll be more likely to now that it has the potential to be a huge TV hit?

I’d be surprised if the TV show doesn’t do well with the writers they have, but you never know. I’ll keep my fingers crossed! :)
